BEGINNER BALLET-ages 4-7
Ballet I focuses on
learning the
structure of a ballet class. Students will be introduced to barre work,
center work and simple variations while still having a lot of fun.
Primary ballet positions and terminology will be covered. Rhythm is
introduced along with the beginning fundamentals of ballet in a
creative atmosphere.
BALLET age 8
&
up
Continuation of
positions, barre,
centre, across the floor and more complex variations of
combinations
help develop grace, posture, flexibility, balance and
discipline.
Turns and leaps combined with correct terminology provide students with
a good foundation for all types of dance.
TAP N TUMBLE for ages 2- 4
Song and musical
movement with
basic tap steps offer a fun and imaginative introduction to
dance.
Children are encouraged to express themselves in individual ways with
the creative movement portion. Class ends with fundamental tumbling
skills. . This is a fun, creative environment and
an
excellent way to
introduce your young child to music and movement.
TAP age 5
through
adult
A high energy class
featuring
rhythm tap steps sometimes combined with vocalizations to make song and
dance routines. Warm up at the barre, individual practice and new
weekly combinations help students learn to focus and develop rhythm.
LYRICAL age 10
and
up
A less structured,
flowing form of interpretive ballet.
CLOG- 7 and up
Super fast paced
folk dance
performed with clog taps on hard soled shoes. Traditionally performed
to bluegrass and country music, but modern clogging is more often used
with rock and pop music.
KIDDIE CLOG –
AGE
5-7
A simplified form
of clog dancing.
Elbow swings, horse trots, rhythm steps, handclapping and stomping
steps make this a favorite of children.
MASTERCLASS-
students with prior dance experience- age 8 and up
This is a
comprehensive dance
class which will give students a little of everything through the
years. Two recital routines will be performed. In addition masterclass
students learn other skills needed for onstage performance, such as,
but not limited to, working with microphones and speaking in
front of
a crowd. A favorite among our students- many alumni have
returned
to
let us know how valuable the skills learned in masterclass
were
in
helping them in various areas of their adult lives. This class is like
no other as it is an original for which we saw the need and designed
the class for that need.
COMBINATION CLASS- age 4-7
The most
popular combination class
is tap-preballet, in which tots get to try out both of these
dance
forms. Two recital routines are performed. Groups of parents
sometimes
have gone from tap-preballet to request a subsequent class for the same
group, but with tap and jazz , or tap and clogging. It takes at least
five students to start a “choose-it-yourself”
combination
class.. Once
students reach approximate age of 8 , class should be more
concentrated in order to become proficient in the chosen type
of
study.
TUMBLING( recreational
tumbling or gymnastics) AGE 5 THROUGH TEENS
For those who
are interested in
basic tumbling skills such as cartwheels, handstands, forward
and
back
rolls, walkovers, handsprings, headstands, etc. but
NOT for
the
purpose of competing. Our classes combine these skills with music and
choreography for a tumbling performance routine.
TUMBLETOTS age 2-4
Same as
tumbling , but on a mini
scale with more creative and fun activities such as obstacle course
tumbling and musical movement.
CHEER N TUMBLE age 5
& up
For
wanna’ be cheerleaders to help
develop skills needed to make the squad. Basic gymnastics and
cheer
skills and jumps. This is a NON PERFORMING CLASS. There will
be
no
recital and is strictly for the learning and fun of the class.
